Create the Future You Imagine

Thanks for the opportunity, Murr. 🙂

Believing in a Better Way

Create the Future  a guest post by Stephanie Bolen

What will tomorrow look like? What will next month look like? Or even next year? What will the future look like?

What do you think? What does the future look like to you? Will you be where you want to be in the future? Will your dreams be a reality? Will your goals be accomplished? How do you imagine the future?

I hope you look at the future with a positive attitude, an optimistic outlook. I hope you don’t let obstacles and moments of failure weigh you down. I hope you do not let the doubt whispered in your ear create a stumbling fear. I hope you don’t allow the excuses to pile up, making it easy to pause or stop… You have no excuse!

Oh, you have an excuse that explains why you can’t have the future you imagine? Baloney!

Guest Post Friday – An Autumn Bucket List

Ryan Eller

It is guest post Friday! Each Friday we encourage you to submit a post for the ryaneller.com blog. This week’s post comes from my good friend Stephanie Bolen. She is an awesome bucket lister who is striving to live a life of intention. You can follow her blog here and on Twitter @stephB_4themoon. If you would like to submit a guest post, click here

I hope those of you with summer bucket lists got to complete them before vacation time ended and the new school year began. However, a new season is now starting! The season of Autumn (or Fall). A time of scarves, piles of leaves, and pumpkin flavored everything. A time for Halloween, fall breaks, and Thanksgiving. A time for a whole new bucket list!

Have you created your autumn bucket list yet? Well, I’ve decided to help you get started. 🙂 I’ve been searching and gathering…

“Everyone who h…

“Everyone who has ever taken a shower has an idea. It’s the person who gets out of the shower, dries off and does something about it who makes a difference.”
-Nolan Bushnell

How true is this! I know a lot of people who value the shower, for it is a quiet place, a place where one’s singing sounds fantastic, and a great place for ideas. Sitting here drinking coffee, my good friend Destiny even admits, ” It is where I do my best thinking.”

It is like when you go to bed at night and all the worries and extra thoughts flood your head; however, I think the shower is a place for clearer, perhaps more intentional, thoughts. It is this chill time to just let your mind wander. At time to stumble upon some ideas.

Now, I bet you’ve had an idea or two in the shower yourself. Possibly, you jumped a little at the realization and nearly slipped on some soapy suds in the tub. What did you do with that idea? Do you even remember it? It probably would have been a good idea to write it down, right? Even then, have you ever done something about that or any idea?

Don’t let an idea just stay an idea. If you want to make a difference, if you want to be inspirational, do something about those good ideas you have in the shower. In fact, do something about any great idea you have at anytime anywhere.

I’m going to leave you with a quote and ask ” What are you doing about your ideas?”

“Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.” -Warren G. Bennis

Motivational Music

Having a rough day? In an awful mood? Do you need something to just add a little pep in your step?

Are you in need of some motivation?

You know, I believe music can have a significant impact on our lives. I think that the right song can make a bad day a little better, change a negative mood into a positive one, and give a person the motivation they need to keep moving forward.

Today, I thought it would be a good idea and some fun to share five songs that motivate me or just make my day a little bit brighter.

1. “Why Should I Worry”  from Disney’s Oliver & Company

2. “Something That I Want” by Grace Potter

3. “Shut Your Eyes” by Snow Patrol

4. “Haven’t Meet You Yet” by Michael Buble (love Michael Buble!)

5. “No Boundaries” by Kris Allen

These are just five songs that I play on a rainy day or for motivation. Trust me, I have many more. Now here is my question:  Is there a certain type of music you find motivating? What songs motivate you? Share them 🙂

Today’s Motivation

Today's Motivation

Whether you are in college like me or just tackling some task, keep this positive thought close. Currently, I’m sitting here swamped in homework, looking at a paper I need to finish today, and honestly thinking “someone save me!”.
However, I know it will be worth it in the end. All the homework will be worth it once I walk across that graduation stage. All the late nights of studying will be worth it once I am the teacher of my own classroom. All the times of stress will be worth it once I impact and inspire my own students. Somewhere I’ve heard the quote, ” This too shall pass.” I’m keeping that thought with every obstacle and homework assignment because the “big picture” of everything–achieving my dream–makes everything worth it in the end.
Good luck will everything you do, and keep in mind that when chasing your dreams, it will be worth it.
